Veritas Upgrades Backup Exec 15 with Feature Pack 5 for a Safer and Stronger Backup
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA: Veritas Technologies, a provider of information management solutions, announces the release of Feature Pack 5 for Backup Exec 15. Backup Exec 15 is a data protection solution for mid-sized organizations, providing powerful, flexible, and easy-to-use backup and recovery for IT infrastructure.
Backup Exec 15, being compatible to any kind of virtual, physical or cloud platform, is a simple solution to transfer data to cloud for backup within a limited period of time. With its intelligent instant recovery system, it reduces the time, effort and complexity of restoring virtual machines on VMware and Microsoft environments. The solution allows administrators to restart a virtual machine directly from the backup set and need not mount and transfer the data set first.
Feature Pack 5, has inbuilt Amazon S3API, giving an added benefit as the hybrid cloud storage connector will not require an additional license. This allows organizations to quickly and easily use their own cloud storage servers as a target for backups. With the S3 connector, working perfectly with storage appliances built with Cloudian HyperStore, Backup Exec 15 shall be able to record all metadata of information sent to and stored on the Cloudian HyperStore. Backup Exec 15 can also be used to help organizations meet policy requirements for providing secure access to the data and manage all the external backup sets.
Apart from all these, Feature Pack 5 has been developed in a way to support, SQL Server 2016, Exchange 2016 CU2, SharePoint 2013 with SQL2016 instance, SQL Server 2014 SP2, Exchange 2013 CU13, SharePoint 2010 and 2013 CUs software environments.
“Managing and protecting data is becoming more challenging every day, given the rapid growth of information an organization possesses across cloud, physical and virtual systems. Based on our recent survey of over 900 global mid-sized organizations, they expect their data volume to increase by an average of 33% over the next three years,” says Mark Nutt, SVP Worldwide Channel, Veritas. “We are committed to continually improving the capabilities of Backup Exec for our customers and partners to help them keep pace with the growing data protection demands across complex environments.”
